What do the symbols mean in Words With Friends?

Those are powerups! They are designed to help you imagine high-scoring words in Words With Friends. Powerups include Word Radar, Hindsight, Swap+, Word Clue, and Tile Boost.

Word Radar: Shows where a lot of words can be played.

Hindsight: Reveals a higher scoring word after you play.

Swap+: Allows you to swap tiles without losing a turn.

Word Clue: Reveals a hint to get you un-stuck.

Tile Boost: Adds points to your tiles in Solo Challenge.
